04Overview

Can an Australian business hire a WordPress developer in India?

Yes. Sanjeev Singh is a freelance WordPress developer in India who works with Australian businesses, building custom themes, Elementor and Divi sites and WooCommerce stores. India is 4.5 to 5.5 hours behind Sydney, so his morning is your afternoon: messages sent after lunch in Sydney or Melbourne are answered the same day, and most of Perth’s working day overlaps his. Every project starts with a fixed written quote within 24 hours.

Australian websites have a few requirements of their own. Consumer prices must be shown as one total with GST included, and tax invoices should carry your ABN. Online stores are expected to offer Afterpay or Zip at checkout alongside cards, and shipping through Australia Post or a courier should be calculated by postcode. Sanjeev sets these up in WooCommerce and tests the full checkout before launch.

Accessibility matters too. Australian businesses can face complaints under the Disability Discrimination Act, and WCAG 2.2 AA is the usual standard. Sanjeev fixes accessibility in the theme itself, with keyboard navigation, contrast, labels and headings, rather than adding an overlay widget that screen readers ignore.

His work includes Technest, a Dubai security company whose Elementor site became a fast custom theme with 14 editable layouts, DataDrone, a B2B site with seven solution pages and 105 resources, and Syncglim, a WooCommerce catalog in ten languages. He has been building software since 2016 and is rated 5.0 on Fiverr across 23 reviews from clients in the US, Europe, the UAE and India.

Typical Australian projects are new business websites, redesigns that keep Google rankings through 301 redirects, WooCommerce stores, and speed rescues for sites that fail Core Web Vitals on mobile. A project takes one to six weeks depending on scope, and the exact timeline is in the quote.

Working remotely across time zones works best with a few habits: a short written update every working day, a staging link where you can see progress at any time, and one person who both builds and answers. You own the code, domain, hosting and every login from day one, and payment is in US dollars against milestones you approve on the staging site.

06Ways to work together

  1. 01

    A new custom site

Designed and coded for your business, no page builder underneath, edited from simple fields.

  2. 02

    A WooCommerce store

GST-inclusive prices, Afterpay or Zip, and live shipping rates from your carrier.

  3. 03

    Speed rescue

A slow site profiled and fixed until it passes Core Web Vitals on mobile, without a redesign.

  4. 04

    Accessibility fixes

An audit against WCAG 2.2 AA, then the fixes in your theme, not an overlay widget.

11Free guide

Selling online in Australia with WooCommerce: a checklist

The theme and the speed work are the same anywhere. These are the Australian parts I set up and check before launch.

Prices and GST

  1. Show one total price. Australian consumer law expects consumers to see the full price, so show it with the 10% GST included rather than adding GST at checkout.
  2. Put your ABN on tax invoices. Business buyers need a tax invoice to claim GST credits, and order emails can double as one.
  3. Ask your accountant to check the setup once, especially if you sell GST-free items.

Payments

Option What it is When you need it
Stripe Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay Almost every store
PayPal Wallet many shoppers already trust Stores selling to older or international buyers
Afterpay Buy now, pay later in four instalments Fashion, beauty, homewares, anything over about $50
Zip Buy now, pay later with longer terms Higher-value items

Shipping

  1. Use live carrier rates for parcels that vary in size and weight. Flat rates lose money on heavy items to remote postcodes.
  2. Offer click and collect if you have a shop or warehouse.
  3. Show delivery times by state on the product page, not only at checkout.

Privacy, email and accessibility

  1. Publish a privacy policy that explains what your forms, cookies and analytics collect.
  2. Only email people who opted in, and include an unsubscribe link in every marketing email.
  3. Build to WCAG 2.2 AA. Accessibility is part of anti-discrimination law in Australia, and larger clients and government buyers often ask about it.

13Questions

How does the time difference with Australia work?

India is 4.5 to 5.5 hours behind Sydney, depending on daylight saving. I start at 10 AM India time, which is mid-afternoon in Sydney and around lunchtime in Perth, so we overlap every working day and I keep building after you’ve logged off.

Can you set up GST correctly in WooCommerce?

Yes. Prices are shown to consumers with GST included, tax is calculated per order, and invoices carry your ABN. Your accountant should confirm the setup for your business.

Can my store offer Afterpay or Zip?

Yes. Both have WooCommerce plugins. I add them next to your card gateway and test the full checkout before launch.

Do you build accessible websites?

Yes. I build to WCAG 2.2 AA and test with a keyboard and a screen reader before launch. I fix the theme itself rather than adding an overlay widget.

Can you redesign my site without losing my Google rankings?

Yes. Every old URL gets a 301 redirect to its new page, and titles and content are carried over, so rankings move with the new design.

How do payments work?

I invoice in US dollars, wherever you are, against milestones agreed in the quote. You don’t pay for a stage until you’ve seen it on the staging site.

Who owns the website when it’s done?

You do. The code, the domain, the hosting and every login are in your name from day one.
